Remember Penelope

JOHN RODDAM SPENCER STANHOPE, Penelope

You shed your defiant tears,

But remember Penelope and what

She weaved with her tears.

With quiet patience she weaved silence,

In silence she sat without waning.

We forgot what love is,

‘Tis but a sacrament that opens up it’s arms to reveal a mystery of life and time.

“It is the attention and care for the rest of our lives”,

Said a wise man.

Don’t shed defiant tears,

The tears that are not the object,

But a process.

And things will be revealed to you today

That you failed to see yesterday,

Tears of sad joy are what you need

They heal

They change you from the seed to the fruit

Remember Penelope and her patience

Did she turn away before the uncertainty?

Did she turn away to find another?

Did she run from one to the other in her mind?

No, she endured, she was constant.

So, my love, please endure

Not everything that’s broken can be fixed. Utterly.

Who can fix a broken heart?

Time?

Stars?

Black wholes?

Remember Penelope
